Have rain, need drain

Dhaka offers new experiences every day.
Rain this time.
It's been pouring heavily a couple of days.
The water comes down in massive quantities and due to the poor, or rather non-existing, drainage system, roads and streets are flooded.
The smell is disgusting and the dirty water is not exactly beneficial for the health, doesn't make your skin glow.
The normally chaotic traffic becomes infernal.

While walking in the rain I was amazed by the calmness of the pedestrians. They were silently wandering in watery mud and trash, many carrying their shoes (flip-flops) in their hands, wet from top to toe.
There were also unusually many pedestrians since the traffic system collapsed. Many preferred their own feet to buses and cars since a ten kilometer distance could take up to six hours.

The pictures are from The Daily Star, the streets in our area were not this flooded.
